Treatment review.

One of the elements in my treatment that meets the merit criteria is the synopsis, this is because it is very detailed and it talks about every aspect of what the podcast will contain.
One of the elements of the treatment that would need to be improved would be the target audience, this is because there is no inclusion of (ABC1's) to make it detailed.

Peer assessment

Clear audio.*

Level out the audio slightly. It spikes at some point and the peak is sometimes too high.

It has met the brief because it is at the minimum of a minute.

Continue the sting and turn it into a bed track.

I will editing the audio so that there is not odd spikes throughout the audio.

2 main ideas.

One of the ideas that i want to develop is the podcast in gaming, this is because gaming is a topic that interest me. It is also a topic that is well known across the world. Since I am interested in the topic i should be able to complete the task at a high standard.
The other idea that I want to develop is to create a remix of all of the media that has been released in a year, this includes taking audio from TV shows like easterners or family guy, this would then be combined with the music of that year.

Software

Adobe sound-booth
This piece of software allows you to link your video to your audio without having to render it, this is considered good for the user because it saves time.

Cubase
This piece of software allows you to download other plugs in for you to modify a piece of audio, you are also able to download all of the components of a band on only one MIDI keyboard.

Analysis of Audio Media Products.

Introduction:
In this report I will be analysing five different types of audio media products and i will be comparing the similarities and differences between them. Within this essay I will be analysing:

  • Radio show ( BBC radio 1 )
  • Podcast ( Music )
  • Audio book
  • Radio show ( cooking )
  • Podcast ( Drama)

BBC Radio 1
The purpose:
The main purpose of the BBC 1 radio show is to entertain is target audience. This is because the radio show is very informal and it is very musical in terms of what is produces for the audience. However the radio show also informs its audience, this is done by reading out the current breaking news during its breaks.
Form and style:
This audio product is a radio station and it is mainly informal. The radio station is mainly about music and what is the latest gossip that has been going around regarding celebrities. This type of information mainly interests younger people therefore, the style of the radio show is very  informal. However during the periods where the radio becomes very informative the style of it becomes very formal. The style has to change to being formal because the weld news is a very important issue so therefore, it has to be delivered correctly.
Content:
The main content within the radio station is all about music and the current news on all of the celebrities. Along with this the radio show also contains interviews from special guests and some live music.
Meaning:
The meaning of the radio station is to provide its listeners with entertainment throughout the day. This is done by providing its listeners with all of the latest music in the charts and informing the audience about the latest news about the celebrities. It also broadcast the interviews they have done with other celebrities so that they can provide an insight into the lives of the celebrities of people who are interested in them.
Target audience:
The BBC radio 1 show is targeted mainly towards students ( 16 - 25 ). This is because of the content within the radio show like the type of music that is played. Also, a lot of the people that phone into radio 1 are inbetween that age group. The RAJAR data tells us that radio 1 attracted 10.97 million listeners during the last quarter, the Nick Grimshaw breakfast show had gained 700,000 listeners and it had an average of 6.29 listeners a week.

Podcast - Huw STEPHENS
The purpose:
The main purpose of the podcast is to inform and to entertain. It informs its listeners about the new and upcoming artists whoa re trying to make it into the music industry however, the music that the presenter plays also entertains the listeners.
Form and style:
This audio product is a podcast that was made for the purpose of playing music therefore, this podcast is quite informal as it has to engage with the audience. You would associate music that is especially in the genre of RnB to be targeted towards younger people so being informal would be very important for the podcast.
Content:
Most of the podcast consists of the presenter ( Huw Stephens ) playing music that he has received from new artists, this could be a recording or sometimes he would play music from the festivals like the Wireless festival.
Meaning:
The meaning of this podcast is to try and encourage the listeners to support the new and upcoming artists by listening to their songs in the hope that they will buy their albums in the future. This also provides a service to the artists as they can gain some recognition from this.
Genre:
This podcast is in the genre of music, you can tell this by what the majority of the content is which in this case is music.
Target audience:
This podcast is mainly targeted towards 18 - 24 year olds. This is because a lot of the music that is played is mainly played at music festivals, and these festivals are targeted towards young people. Also, some of the people that appear on the podcast are poets, this people tend to be in to same age group as the targeted audience. They make the podcast relatable to the audience as the problems that people talk about on the show affect most of the people in that age group.
Frequency:
The podcast is uploaded in episodes and is uploaded weekly. There is no set length of each podcast, the length of the show varies each episodes.
Comparison
When comparing both the BBC radio show and the podcast by Huw Stephens it is clear that they both have the same purposes which is to inform and to entertain the listeners. This is a purpose that you what expect to have in audio products that are in the genre of music like these. When I comes to for and style both of the shows are quite similar as they are both informal as they want to entertain the audience however, where as the podcast is informal throughout its episodes the radio show has break s inbetween all of the music were it has to be formal. This is were all of the breaking news is read, this is considered to be very serious so therefore is needs to be formal. Both of the shows have the same content within it, they both play music and on some occasions that interview from special guests however, the only difference is that the radio show will play music from the weekly chart which is what the audience decided. But the podcast plays music that is new and sometimes unheard of to its audience, the podcast tends to promote the artist by playing the music that he has received. The meaning of the radio show and the podcast is very different, the meaning of the podcast is to encourage its listeners to help support other people. But with the radio show, because of the music they play ( popular / well known ) there is no need for them to encourage other people to support them as it is not needed. The target audience is slightly different for the podcast and the radio station, the radio station targets a wider audience as the music that is played suits more people however, the podcast targets a smaller audience. In terms of frequency, the radio show is available to the audience everyday at 10:00 a.m. and it ends a 12:45 p.m. The podcast is different because it is uploaded to the BBC website as episodes once a week.
Audio book.
The purpose:
The main purpose of this audio product is to influence the listeners, the audio book can be used to persuade its listeners to become more involved in reading books.
Form and style:
This audio product is a audio book, the style of this audio book is very formal because the book that is being read out is the bible. Therefore it has to be formal as the bible is part of Christianity which is a very big religion, reading it in a improper way can cause offence to the listener.
Content:
This audio book contains the spoken version of the King James Bible.
Meaning:
The meaning of the audio book is to influence and engage the listeners on the bible and Christianity. It seeks to influence people to be Christians so that they can lead a better life, by engaging the audience it may help the audience to understand the bible.
Genre:
This is an informative audio book.
Target audience:
This audio book is mainly targeted towards people who are Christians, this is because the bible is something that is very important in Christianity and people believe that is should be read everyday. Therefore having it as an audio book would make it easier for people. This audio book is also targeted towards people who are inbetween 35 - 55, this is because Christianity can be very difficult for someone who is young to understand however, it is easier for someone who is more mature so therefore the age of the target audience would be between that.
Frequency:
This audio book is available by books within the bible, the bible is spilt up into a number of books. The whole bible is available on the website in the order of books.

Comparison
When comparing the audio book with the other audio products this one is very much different. Firstly the purpose of the audio is different, the purpose of this audio book is to influence its listeners. This is because of the importance of the bible, so it aims to persuade the audience to learn more about the bible. The form and style of the audio book also contrast with the other audio products. Where as the radio show and the podcast are in the genre of music which allows it to be informal but the audio book is very formal. This is because the bible is of very high importance within Christianity so therefore, the bible most be read in the correct register to avoid offending any of the audience. When it comes to meaning, both the radio show and the podcast aim to provide a service to its listeners however, the audio book wants to engage it listeners in the bible. By doing this it allows the audio book to complete is purpose of influencing the audience. In terms of target audience, the radio show and the podcast is targeted towards more casual people where as the audio book is mainly targeted towards people who are older ( 40's ) and they are more mature and can understand the contents of the bible. The audio book has all of its episodes available online however, the radio station is live show it does not have any episodes and the podcast is only available by episodes.

Radio show ( cooking )
The purpose:
The main purpose of this radio show is to educate it audience. Since it is a cooking show it needs to guide the listeners on what to do.
Form and style:
The form of this radio show is on cooking and it is formal. It is formal because of the presenter of the radio show. The presenter is a chef, so therefore it is formal is a chef always aims for perfection.
Content:
Within this radio show it instructs the audience on how to make a Rhubarb tart.
Meaning:
The meaning of this radio show it to educate the audience so that they can then go and use the skills that they have learnt to keep themselves well fed.
The genre:
The genre of the radio show is about cooking.
Target audience:
The target audience of this radio show is very wide as cooking is a skill that most people look to improve in however, it is mainly targeted towards pensioners. This is because this show is on in the middle of the day where many other people are working and are quite busy, the only people that would be available at that time are pensioners as they do not work.
Frequency:
This radio show is on everyday at mid day and each show teaches the audience on something new.
Comparison
When you compare this radio show to the BBC 1 radio show it is clear that certain aspects of them are different. The purpose of the radio shows are different. Because the topic of the other radio show is about cooking it has to entertain the audience in order for it to be effective. The form and style of the radio shows also contrast, because the cooking radio show is targeted towards pensioners it has to the broadcast in a formal register so that it can relate to them. This same principal is applied to the BBC 1 radio show however that is more informal. The content within the radio show contrast as the cooking radio contains instructions on how to prepare meals where as the BBC radio 1 is about what is new in the music charts. In terms of meaning, it is important that the cooking radio show aims to influence it audience so it can fulfil its purpose. The same goes for BBC radio 1, if it does not engage its audience then it cannot complete its purpose. The cooking radio show is available everyday at mid day however the difference between the this and the BBC radio 1 is that the show itself is available for 24 hours however, there are different segments to it, For example you have the morning show which is run by Nick Grimshaw, then you have the lunchtime show which is run by Fern Cotten.

Podcast ( The archers )
The purpose:
The main purpose of this podcast is to entertain the audience as it is 'radio drama'.
Form and style:
Although the podcast's purpose is to entertain the audience it is very formal, this is because of the style of the drama. The story is centred around high class people so their style of language is going to be different to other people.

The 1 thing that I really liked about this the introduction is very clear on what this report is going to be about. It clearly shows each audio product and what they are.
The only thing to improve would be the explanation with each product like explain why it informs the audience.
The one thing to add to your blog work is the comparison between the audio products so that you can see the advantages and disadvantages of each product.
